Important Note
Any modifications we make to the extension will not be reflected immediately and will require a reinstall. You will be prompted to update the version within Akooda and the Extension itself.
Quick Set-up
Click the Extension icon to log into your Akooda account and navigate to its settings page. There, you can configure the following options according to your preferences:
New Tab
Once the extension is installed, simply open a new tab to quickly access Akooda. Disable this option in any case you have other new tab settings, or just prefer the default browser one.
Search Shortcut
The extension allows you to use a keyboard shortcut (Command/Ctrl + Shift + E) to summon the Akooda search input box - which can also be disabled whenever you want.
You can also type "Akooda" and then tab/enter in the browser omnibox to trigger a search, and this can be removed by following these steps:
Open Chrome settings and click on "Manage search engines and site search" (or browse to
chrome://settings/searchEngines
)Scroll down to the "Site search" option
Find the "Akooda" shortcut, click the three dots, and click "Delete"
Detection Indicator
Make sure the detection indication (floating icon on the bottom right) is accessible because it will be your go-to for understanding and orienting around workplace information as you browse.
Click it to get the full list of detected entities, or hover over it to get more insights into the current browsed interaction or to pause the detection altogether.
You can move the Companion floating icon to another location, in case it interferes with the browsed websites.
Domain Detection
Activate detection on any of your chosen work apps, so the Extension can detect mentioned entities such as organizations, topics, people, and interactions - either inline or list them in the right-hand side drawer.
At any point, you can hover over the indication icon to pause it for the current session or to deactivate it. For any supported work apps, you can click on the Extension icon in the toolbar to resume detection.
Entity Detection
If you ever feel like you no longer need entity-level information as you work, simply hover over its card (accessible either from an inline highlight or its listing in the drawer) and click "Hide".
Doing so will essentially "add it to your dictionary" so it is no longer a disturbance. You can always "Unhide" it to make it detectable again from your Extension settings.
