This article provides instructions for connecting Figma to your Akooda account. This connection essentially provides Akooda with access to teams and their respective file interactions in your entire organization.
For more information about how Akooda helps your organization evolve and the inherent privacy and security protections in place, see Akooda Integration Principles.
NOTE: Draft files, with personal access restrictions, are not supported at the moment. If you require processing of such items, please contact our support team to discuss your options.
Before We Begin
Before connecting your organization’s Figma account, check that:
You’re an Admin in Akooda.
You’re an Admin of your Figma organization (see Figma’s Roles in Figma article for more detail).
How to Connect
Step 1: Link the Figma Admin User with Akooda
Sign into Akooda (app.akooda.co) with your admin user.
Navigate to the “Apps” page under the Account Settings (app.akooda.co/settings/apps)
Click on the “Connect” button for Figma, which will open an app installation page.
If you haven’t already, sign in to your teams’ workspace with your admin Figma account.
Click “Allow Access” to provide consent for Akooda to read the information needed to connect (see Figma's Oauth section)
NOTE: The permissions granted include reading files open to the admin. This is required for Akooda to be able to analyze users’ interactions in those pages. Additionally, Akooda requires permissions to read the connecting user name, email and profile image in order to map the user activity to the respective employee.
Following Akooda’s “Least-privilege Models” policy. The requested permissions do not include any write permissions.
Step 2: Collect Team IDs and Send to Account Manager
Once signed in to a user that has access to all teams that are relevant for processing in Akooda, per each team you’d like to be processed by Akooda for file interactions:
Click on the team in the left sidebar.
Send the URL to your Akooda account manager.
NOTE: This is required due to a known gap in the Figma API, which will hopefully be resolved in time.
Step 3: (optional) Update Mapped Users by Notifying Account Manager
Whenever a new team member is added, make sure to notify your Akooda account manager to retrigger the mapping of Figma users to your account's people in Akooda.
NOTE: This is required due to a known gap in the Figma API, which will hopefully be resolved in time.
Next Up
Processing your organization data post initial integration may take up to 24 hours. Once done, you will be able to see tagged Figma interaction data in your Akooda account.
