This article provides instructions for connecting Notion to your Akooda account. This connection essentially provides Akooda with access to selected teamspaces / pages in your workspace (excluding private ones).

For more information about how Akooda helps your organization evolve and the inherent privacy and security protections in place, see Akooda Integration Principles.

Before We Begin

Before connecting your organization’s Notion account, verify that:

  1. You’re an Admin in Akooda.

  2. You’re a workspace Admin in Notion.

Important!

Notion API provides permissions visibility by workspaces. Therefore, pages within linked workspaces will be visible to all your Akooda users.

If you may wish to grant Akooda's integration with permissions only to specific bases -- carry-on with the integration using the opt-in option below.

In any case, following Akooda’s “Least-privilege Models” policy, Akooda's engine does not have any write permissions, and workspaces and pages outside the granted scope will not be visible to Akooda users.

How to Connect

Step 1: User Preparation

To connect Akooda with your Notion workspace and control visibility, we provide 2 options: admin user or dedicated user.

  1. Option 1: connect via your Notion admin user

  2. Option 2: connect via a dedicated Akooda user

    1. If you haven't done so already, please create an Akooda integration account in you system

      1. Full name: Akooda App

      2. Email: akooda@[YOUR_EMAIL_DOMAIN]

    2. In the Notion management console, provide the dedicated user with access to the specific workspaces and pages you wish to provide visibility to.

      1. Navigate to Settings & Members > People

      2. Invite the dedicated user to specific pages.

Step 2: Link the Notion User with Akooda

  1. Sign into Akooda (app.akooda.co) with your Akooda admin user.

  2. Navigate to the “Apps” page under the Account Settings (app.akooda.co/settings/apps)

  3. Click on the “Connect” button for Notion, which will open an app installation page.

  4. Verify that you sign in to you Notion with the admin account or the dedicated user you chose on Step 1.

  5. Opt-in stage: Tick on the workspaces and pages you wish to include in Akooda.

  6. Click the “Allow Access” button to provide consent for Akooda to view the information needed to connect to Notion (as referenced in Notion’s Sharing and Permissions guide).

NOTE: At any point, if the Notion user is deleted, the Akooda app will be deactivated and the sync will stop working. In such a case, another workspace user will be required to re-connect the app using this guide.

Next Up

Scanning your organization data post initial integration may take up to 24 hours. Once done, you will be able to see tagged Notion interaction data in your Akooda account (according to each individual user’s access permission).
